On words, chairs and everything you might read into
The work balances between a lecture-performance, a dance piece, and an installation seeking its final form in real-time. It proposes, builds, and establishes, only to later shift, dismantle, and reject proposed forms.
The lecture discusses how the language is constructed through words, sentences and grammar, simuntailnously unfolding the construction of this specific performance language through movement, choreography, and objects.
The objects - chairs used as everyday props, shift their function to become volatile elements of the performance, much like words themselves. The movement language is inspired by the concept of the body as a living archive where movements and dances are stored and revoked within the performance. Meaning emerges from the relationship between the performers, the text, and the objects, inviting the audience to complete the work through their own imagination.
The creative process was curated to explore the motivation behind establishing a new artistic organization and the motives for creating artwork.
Appropriating the ethnographic technique of the interview artists discussed the future vision of their newly established art organization, what the future performances might look like, and the future structures of their community and society. The work explores space, meaning, imagination, language and the possibility of envisioning a better collective future.
In this process, a specific methodology for the freshly established organization was developed, taking into account their position at the start of their professional practice. Consequently, the act of “establishing” became a central preoccupation: establishing the language, establishing the movement vocabulary, establishing the language of the performance, establishing the future.
